Father Bohdan

Today, on Saturday, the Church reads the Gospel about the centurion of Capernaum. He did not presume to come to Jesus himself, but said that he was not worthy for the Lord to enter under his roof. A single word was enough, and his servant was healed. Jesus marveled at such faith, and the simplicity of that faith still gladdens Him. Today we commemorate Venerable Spyridon the Prosphora-Baker, a monk of the Kiev Caves Lavra from the twelfth century. He labored in the monastery's bakery, preparing the prosphora from which the portion for Holy Communion is later taken. His work was quiet and unnoticed, yet it was done out of love for God. Venerable Spyridon teaches us humility in the most ordinary task. Dear brothers and sisters, may this day pass in quiet faith and trust in the Lord. May peace surround you, and may there be room in your heart for gratitude. I bless you and wish you a good day. The Lord be with you.
