Today is Wednesday, the Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost, and the Church reads of how the disciples argued over which of them was the greatest. Jesus took a child, set him in their midst, and said that whoever is least among them is the one who will be great. In these words lies the whole meaning of our life: to learn humble openness, the way a child has it. Today we remember Saint Paraskeva of Iconium, whom the people call Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa. She lived in the third century in Iconium, in the years of persecution against Christians. She did not renounce Christ even in the face of torment, and her quiet steadfastness still inspires many people. My dear ones, may this day bring peace to your hearts and simplicity to your relationships with those close to you. May the Lord strengthen you in goodness, and may Saint Paraskeva pray for your endeavors. I bless you and wish you a joy that is not afraid of change.
